# California American Latino Alliance (full text) > Source: https://www.calamericanlatino.com/story.md > Canonical: https://www.calamericanlatino.com/ The California American Latino Alliance (CALA) is a grassroots organization powered by We the People. Based in Porterville, California, we bring together Americans of every background to strengthen our communities, defend free speech, and advance principled leadership. ## We the People. Building a Stronger California. Strong families. Greater opportunity. Government that answers to the People. Families Before Parties. Character Before Politics. Service Before Self. ## Many Backgrounds. One Shared American Future. CALA is a diverse, multiethnic alliance united by being American and by a belief in the promise of this country. Our backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives are different. Our commitment is shared: strong families, economic opportunity, individual liberty, and a government accountable to the People. You do not have to share the same heritage, agree on every issue, or know the right person to belong. We welcome everybody willing to participate, exchange ideas, and work toward a stronger community. We the People means all of us. ## Our Origin: A Call to Participate. CALA was born from a need for renewed civic engagement. We saw too many neighbors disconnected from public life while a small, familiar circle shaped the conversation. Participation too often came with an expectation: fall in line, defer to established voices, and avoid challenging the way things were done. We believed our community deserved something better. CALA began with a simple conviction: the People should never have to bow to a select few to have a voice in their own community. We stand for a marketplace of ideas—where questions are welcome, disagreements can be expressed openly, and ideas earn support through discussion and debate. Our foundation is the United States Constitution and its principles of liberty, equal protection, and government accountable to the People. We believe those principles help create opportunity for all People. That is why we organize, speak up, and invite others to participate. A renewal of civic life begins when We the People take an active role in shaping our future. ## What We Stand For Strong Families — Safe neighborhoods, strong schools, and affordable living help families thrive. We support leadership that gives the next generation a stronger foundation. Jobs & Economic Opportunity — Good-paying jobs and thriving businesses make the American Dream attainable. We believe People should have the freedom and opportunity to work, build, and get ahead. Free Speech & Civic Engagement — Every voice deserves the freedom to be heard. We encourage open discussion, respectful debate, and active participation in the decisions that shape our communities. Transparent Government — Public business belongs in public view. We stand for open decision-making, responsible spending, and officials who answer to the People. Principled Leadership — Character, competence, and service matter. We work to identify, develop, and support leaders who listen, act with integrity, and serve the broader community. ## Grassroots Means It Starts With Us. Our strength comes from neighbors willing to show up, share ideas, and take action. CALA brings our values to life by: 1. Bringing the community together through events, conversations, and opportunities to serve. 2. Encouraging civic participation in public meetings, community decisions, and elections. 3. Supporting principled leaders who understand local needs and respect the voices of the People. 4. Advocating for opportunity through stronger families, thriving businesses, and accountable government. We the People are the foundation of this work. ## Get Involved Your voice belongs here.
